This was one of the biggest political protest ever seen in the United States and by far over shadowed the number of attendees during the Inauguration of the President Donald Trump which occurred the previous day.
The Inauguration of Donald J. Trump had for theme "Uniquely American." It was held in Washington, DC from January 17 to 21, 2017 and was bookmarked by various protests and quasi-riots in the DC area. It was estimated that less than 200,000 people attended the public swearing ceremony, which was held on January 20, 2017 in front of the United States Capitol Building in Washington, DC.
The days before and after the Inauguration, Washington DC saw a lot of protests, arrests, and mayhem. I set out to photograph the periphery around the Inauguration as, I often think, the more interesting events occur in the periphery of the main event.
